Message from the President
You should be receiving this newsletter with the Summer edition of the AMCA Magazine. We have agreed with the National AMCA organisation that the magazines are bulk mailed to me, we forward them with our newsletter, and our European Chapter gets to keep some of the cost savings. If this works, we shall do it again with our next newsletter in the Winter magazine, and this should mean no additional subscriptions for us. Another advantage is that we will finally get an accurate count of those paid-up AMCA members in Europe. We don't want to lose members because the subscription is hard to pay, so if you are not paying through the www.antiquemotorcycle.org Website by credit card, I would welcome suggestions on easier payment methods.
Chris Jones has volunteered to be our Newsletter Editor, and can be contacted through Norfab Products Ltd, Ben Nevis Industrial Estate, Fort William, Inverness-shire, Scotland PH33 6UB or sales@norfab.co.uk. Please send him your rally and show reports, photos, articles, and restoration stories for our collective enjoyment. I had a complaint we were getting too many Harley items - and we shall have more in this their centenary year - but this is because of the articles received. If you want to see more photos and articles about other makes, then you need to write some of them yourself!
Spring has sprung here in England, and I have a punishing schedule of bike-related things to do this year. I went on impulse to the Oley show a couple of weeks ago, and will be attending the Wauseon and Davenport meets in the USA later in the year. Here in Europe I shall be taking my 1930 VL on the Skagen to Copenhagen Run 29/31 May and on the UK Banbury Run 15 June. We then have the Den Haag Old Timers Rally 8-10 August and the trial run for our first National Meet 13-15 September in Dessau (110 km south of Berlin). My 1934 quarter mile sprint bike is due to be rebuilt with a set of lightened 80 cubic inch flywheels and titanium valves, and I hope there is time to get some runs made over the summer.
I wish you safe and happy riding, and hope to see you at various AMCA and other events. Don't forget to write a few words and take some pictures at the events you attend, so that other Chapter members can benefit from your experiences.
